Brittney Nielsen’s goal as an interior designer is to create a harmonious and comfortable home by infusing her clients’ individual tastes with existing architectural cues.
Before she returned to her Southern Californian roots, Brittney lived and worked in several regions of the U.S. including Chicago, Dallas, and Washington DC. This familiarity with a wide variety of regional aesthetics provides her with an in-depth appreciation for her clients’ range of unique styles.
When she founded BNID in 2007, Brittney was able to tap into a breadth of knowledge gained over 20 years of experience in model home and residential design. Her expertise is put to good use as she works to maximize the design budget of each project while producing a sophisticated and timeless design tailored to each client.
Brittney has a keen ability to visualize floor plans and excels in designing spatial layouts that maximize function and flow. These skills allow her to facilitate work with contractors and architects on the client’s behalf, acting as a comforting navigator in the often-unfamiliar territory of construction and design.
Brittney has a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from San Diego State University and is an allied member of ASID and several trade associations.
Heather Menegat has a BFA in Interior Design from the Design Institute of San Diego. Prior to realizing that interior design was her calling, she spread a number of years between teaching, sales, computer science, and graphic design. Thankfully, her technological savvy has proven beneficial in Brittney’s office. Heather joined BNID in 2011 as an east coast transplant, hailing from the DC metro area. She does not miss the weather.
Kelly Gilhooly's interest in design started early on, but truly ignited when she and her husband restored a 1930's Tudor-style home in San Mateo, CA. After 15 years of experience working in marketing for high-tech companies, Kelly decided to follow her passion and return to school. Currently, she is attending the Design Institute of San Diego, where she is working toward earning her BFA in Interior Design. She also holds a BA from UCLA as well as an MBA from USD. Raised in Coronado, Kelly has also lived in San Francisco, Washington DC and Guam - each confirming there is no place like home.
